HONDA of the UK Manufacturing Ltd (HUM) is the centre of Honda’s European car manufacturing operation, employing nearly 5 000 Associates and producing 1000 cars per day. A fully integrated car manufacturing facility, incorporating Engine casting & Pressing on one site, HUM in Swindon uniquely manufactures the 3-door & 5-door Civic plus the CRV model principally for the European market. Honda has invested £1.33 billion in this plant.

Purchasing Associates

Based in Swindon (100 km west of London)

 

Position

 

Reporting to your department Section Manager, you will work directly within a commodity area with a specific group of suppliers, or within a procurement planning area, or within a car cost management area. You will assess production facilities and ensure that we get the parts we need at skilfully negotiated costs. For some specific projects, you may have the opportunity to work in Japan with our Japanese Engineers, actively participating in the cost analysis, cost reviews of the buying process from the design phase of a new model to mass production.

 

Profile

•         Relevant Engineering and/or Business degree is desirable, but not essential

•         Experience in purchasing and/or supply management is a prerequisite, preferably within the automotive sector, or within a high volume manufacturing environment

•         Good knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering processes would be a real advantage

•         Fluency in English

•         Strong communication skills; capacity to negotiate & ability to develop strong relationships

•         Open to mobility
